307 GORE STREET, MELBOURNE, VICTORIA
An immersive, experience-driven venue that feels distinctive, seductive, and slightly secretive. The client is drawn to underground counterculture and wants the space to feel like an escape into another world rather than a conventional hospitality setting. They are interested in reinterpreting the 1920s speakeasy through a contemporary lens, creating an atmosphere of decadence, indulgence, and intrigue.
The client wants extravagance without garishness — something richly layered, dramatic, and memorable, but still refined. The venue should feel exclusive and theatrical, with a sense of occasion that begins before guests even arrive.

FUNCTION OF SPACE

STORK is conceived as a hospitality venue centred around mood, identity, and experience. Functionally, it needs to operate as a destination bar or club while also creating the feeling of entry into a hidden world. The space should support social gathering, nightlife, and curated guest experiences, with an emphasis on atmosphere, intimacy, and transformation.
Inspired by the legacy of the original Stork Club in New York during the prohibition era, the venue is intended to feel like an homage to a bygone time while introducing a modern-day twist. It should encourage guests to step into character, embrace a sense of mystery and indulgence, and feel as though they are participating in something private, glamorous, and slightly illicit.
