LOCATION
307 GORE STREET, MELBOURNE, VICTORIA
BRIEF
STORK is an immersive hospitality venue inspired by underground counterculture and the glamour of the 1920s speakeasy. The brief called for a space that feels distinctive, seductive, and slightly secretive — an escape into another world rather than a conventional bar. Richly layered and theatrical without feeling garish, the venue balances decadence, intrigue, and refinement.
FUNCTION OF SPACE
Conceived as a destination bar and nightlife venue, STORK is designed around mood, identity, and experience. Inspired by the original Stork Club in prohibition-era New York, the space creates the feeling of entering a hidden world — private, glamorous, and slightly illicit — inviting guests to step into character and embrace the occasion.

A black door. A knocker.
Knock if you dare.
In the alley, the music is soft. Conversational. A bar. A few seats.
Is this it?
Your invitation says entrance out the back.
Another black door. Another knocker.
You knock.
A man in an impossible suit opens the door. He checks your name, your ID, and hands you a locker code.
OUTDOOR TERRACE
ENTRANCE / CLOAKROOM
In the cloakroom, the wardrobe is waiting.
This is where the transformation happens.
You emerge altered.
DRESSING CHAMBER
Another door opens.
Sound first. Music. Laughter. Whispers beneath the noise.
Then light.
A glowing bar sits at the center, built from venetian glass bricks lit from below.
Above it, a small band plays. Around you, people dance, drink, lean in close.
MAIN BAR
Everyone is dressed like you.
No one looks the same.
Who are these people?
Who am I?
